Visions and Voices of the Outer Cape

"Since 1999, Twenty-one in Truro" - a group of twenty-one women artists - convene in Truro annually to draw inspiration from the unique setting that Outer Cape Cod so graciously offers. In 2007, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum is pleased to present Twenty-one in Truro: Visions and Voices of the Outer Cape. The artists, whose range spans a considerable variation in styles, have chosen to work collaboratively with a group of poets and writers to produce a unique exhibition that couples visual art and the written word to share memories and insight, as well as examining the visual dialogue amongst the two groups. As much of the subject matter focuses on the Outer Cape, the descriptive discourse praises the collaborative efforts of these women who have come to depict and appreciate this area for nearly a decade."

"I walk in the sky, bathed in sky, holding onto this narrow shore where the sea approaches and retreats before me. A line of sand grains form at the shoreline and presses inland, a single line, then another. I give a moment to looking both ways, but I walk the edge, my head turned toward the path, the line without width or depth. The beach goes on forever and I walk that disappearing line, into time that opens to the pressure of my passing and closes behind me, complete."

I walk the edge of the marsh, following the tide, inspired by shapes of sky, sand, and sea.
