Artist's Statement:
Color is my primary motivation for painting.
In landscape painting it is the recognition of color contrasts in nature which sparks my interest. I walk around these colors on location to find the best composition. The search is as varied and fleeting as the light. Each year I concentrate on a particular subject as I prefer my exhibitions to be unified. Past shows have included expanses, edges, fields, marshes, cranberry bogs, curves, pools, and 2008 will be dunes.
My concentration on color theory has led to abstract work. My non representational oils and pastels allow for the study of color and shape removed from the influence of nature. My abstract Prints are a joyful study of subtle color variations.
