Color is my primary motivation for painting. I combine this with my love of nature to depict
Cape Cod landscapes. In landscape painting it is the recognition of connections in nature which sparks my interest. A few paces right or left can alter those connections. Thus, the search is as varied
and fleeting as nature itself. Each year I concentrate my work on a particular aspect discovered while on location painting. These have included expanses, edges, distance, patterns, fields, notes,
curves and pools. I prefer my exhibitions to be unified with these elements. My attitude toward my work is to always be a student: exploring new subjects, methods, media and remaining fresh for
inspiration. My most recent concentration on color theory has led to abstract work. This allows for the study of color and shape removed from the influence of nature. This in turn has influenced my
landscape work.
